HDMI 1.4 3D testing for source and sink

Quantum Data today announced the availability of a set of solutions for testing HDMI 1.4 3D format structures of 3D capable source and sink devices.
For testing 3D capable HDTVs, developers can now use the 3D enhancements available with all models of the 88x series instruments to conduct 3D pattern testing using a variety of HDMI 1.4 3D format structures. The 3D feature also includes a utility that enables developers to create 3D ready test images in a variety of 3D structures from existing stereographic images. The 3D structures supported include: frame packing, line alternative, side-by-side full and all variants of side-by-side half. Rendering a 3D image through the 88x HDMI output will produce a vendor specific infoframe incorporating the appropriate 3D metadata. This enables developers to verify that their HDTVs can process 3D metadata properly.

For testing 3D capable source devices, developers can use the Quantum Data 980 Protocol Scope to analyze the 3D image, the timing of its format structure, as well as the 3D metadata in the vendor specific infoframe.
The 3D feature enhancements are now available.
For sink testing, all 88x series models will require a firmware upgrade and a separate software utility both of which can be obtained from the downloads page of the Quantum Data website.
For source testing, the latest release of the 980 can be used.
