Quantum Data announced the release of the 980 protocol scope for HDMI.
The 980 Protocol Scope is an analyzer for HDMI source devices. It captures and decodes HDCP-protected video data content such as data islands, infoframes, audio sample packets as well as CEC and DDC transactions including HDCP and EDID data.
The optional built-in 10.4" LCD with touchscreen provides a graphical user interface (GUI) to control the instrument and view incoming decrypted video. The 980 Protocol Scope provides pre-capture filtering and triggering to ensure that you capture the specific subset of data you are interested in. You can trigger on a variety of conditions or events that occur in the various data types.

Once the data is captured, the 980 Manager presents the data in an easy to understand way through its graphical user interface. The decoded data is depicted at a high level view in the Event Plot panel and at a lower level view in the Data Decode panel.
The Event Plot provides a timeline view of the various data types in relation to one another. You can easily see the encryption enable pulse, for example, in relation to vertical sync or compare the occurrence of AVmute with other related events.
The Data Decode panel provides a detailed sequential log with precise time stamps of each data transaction or event. It shows the data both in hexadecimal and in human readable text. You can apply post-capture filters on the Data Decode panel to view only the data you are interested in. You can also search through the data for specific events and values.
The 980 also provides analyzer utilities for verifying the video timing, pixel values and the consistency of the audio metadata. These utilities provide at-a-glance insights into conditions that could result in interoperability problems. The 980 combines in-depth analysis of the HDMI video and audio with ease of use at an attractive price.
