Bipolar power supply

nederlandse vlag.gif

TTMS does support a wide range of bipolar (and unipolar) power supplies.
These four quadrant power supplies are capable of supplying a current (source) as of absorbing a current (load). This can be done in combination with a positive or negative voltage.

These specifications are important if you want to connect devices that generate back electromotive force such as solenoids, capacitive load such as electrolytic capacitor, and even to piezoelectric material charged with electromotive force and power sources and batteries such as fuel cells.
These devices and systems cannot be driven with normal DC power supplies with a sense of security capable to work as a full four quadrant source

Yokogawa four quadrant precision source/meter

GS820.jpg

Our product range for bipolar power supplies does start with three models from Yokogawa; The GS820 and the GS610 are two source/meters. The GS200 is a four quadrant source.
The first two units are four quadrant sources for low power applications. Beside the source/load functionality these models do have an accurate measurement capability. This does give them the possibility to characterize components as mentioned above as well.

The GS820 is a two channel bipolar source with a maximum power of 22W per channel. The maximum voltage is 18V and the maximum current 3.2A. In combination with the accurate DMM capabilities you do get a unique source/meter.
For a complete overview of the specifications of the GS820 just click here.

Model GS610 is a single output four quadrant source / digital meter with a maximum power of 36W. The maximum voltage is 110V and the maximum current is 3.2 Amps.
For specifications of the GS610 click here.

The GS200 Unit is also a four quadrant power supply but this unit doesn't have a meter function. The voltage range / current range is ±32V and ±200mA. This maximum resolution is 100nV and 10nA.
All these units are reaaly precision sources.

Unipolar and Bipolar sources from H&H

nl_series_small.jpg

The company Höcherl & Hackl introduced a complete new model line with the NL series.
The NL series actually exists of a range of unipolar and bipolar sources with power ratings of 100W up to 3520W. Because of the higher power rating these units do cover a bigger application area compared to the Yokogawa units. Application area's are solar panels, batteries, dynamic testing of power supplies, simulating start engines, testing any dc engine and many more.
These four quadrant power supplies from H&H do have two operating modes; constant voltage and constant current. The voltage range is depending of the model up to 100V and the current range is even up to 320Amps.

There is also a possibility to use these units as a four quadrant or two quadrant amplifier.

Four quadrant sources from NF corporation

BP4610.jpg

The bipolar power supply series from NF Corporation exists of two models. One 1200W and one 2400W unit.
The voltage range is ± 60V (maximum DC offset is 55V) and the current is maximum 10Amps (30Ap-p) or 20Amps (60Ap-p) for the 2400W model.
Each model does have an internal arbitrary waveform generator on board which is capable of making any waveshape up to 120kHz. Of course standard waveforms as sinus, puls and triangle are included. These can be combined with a DC offset as well.

You can store 16 different waveshapes in internal memory.
This can be combined with a 255 step sequencer. Ideal for semi automated testing.
The BP4610 and BP4620 can also be used as bipolar amplifier.

For detailed specifications of the BP4610 or BP4620 just click the model number.

If you do have any question about the capabilities of these bipolar power supplies or there application area's, please contact us. We will be happy to assist you with selecting the right source for your application. We do have demonstration models available.

Beside the Bipolar power supplies we do have a range of unipolar and bipolar amplifiers available as well.
These units do have simular capabilities as the bipolar supplies but do normally have a much higher bandwidth capability and no internal waveform generator.
